Careers Events at THS

At Todmorden High School we provide a number of exciting careers based opportunities throughout the year.  There is a wide range of career links to explore and a great opportunity to find out about careers and career pathways during your time here.

On our CEIAG page you can check out tons of information about universities, colleges, apprenticeships and other routes into careers, alongside different employers and organisations. Remember, we are in a unique situation where new jobs and career pathways are opening up all the time; looking at as much information as possible will help you make informed choices.

Careers events 2020/2021

We host a series of regular events across the year, the aim is to expose students to a diverse range of careers focused people from different backgrounds.

  1. Post 16 event – In early September the school hosts all the local Further Education colleges and some select Higher Educational establishments to speak to our students about their career options and their choices beyond. There is a chance to talk about A Level and vocational courses as well as other ways to enter the career ladder such as apprenticeships.
  2. National Careers Week – In line with the rest of the country, Todmorden hosts a series of workshops, seminars and interactive events from our local FE and HE providers alongside meetings with individuals who are successful in a multitude of different career paths. The timetable for this week is dedicated to all things careers where students are exposed to both academic and vocational options. Each year group has dedicated time with a different FE provider to hear about career options and ask questions
  3. Careers Fair – Our annual whole school event occurs at the end of each academic year and provides an ideal opportunity to discuss and cement ideas gained from earlier meetings about careers. The school hall is opened up to over 30 different companies and organisations to discuss careers, with each year group having dedicated time to meet with all of them.
  4. Guest Speakers – Throughout the year guests are invited into the school to meet with and discuss with the students their own career path and journey to their top flight position.
  5. Careers assemblies – Each year group has scheduled assembly time to inform them about careers and what is happening throughout the year. These are hosted by local FE colleges and aimed at informing students about courses and progression routes at post 16 and beyond.
