Year 9 Options Process
Year 9 students will be choosing their GCSE subjects in the spring term. All students will study core subjects which include Maths, English, Science, PE, Computing, Social-Moral-Spiritual-Cultural (SMSC) and Preparation for Life (PfL). In addition to this they will be invited to choose the other subjects they wish to study for GCSE.
The Year 9 parents’ evening will be the starting point for this process. Your child’s subject teachers will be able to offer advice, based on their progress to date in each subject and this will help you and your child make an informed decision.
Prior to the options evening, you and your child will be invited to a meeting with a senior member of staff to discuss their options. This member of staff will offer you information, advice and guidance based on your child’s progress to date and their future ambitions to ensure that they are choosing the path that is right for them. Finally, there will be an options evening which will be a final opportunity to speak with subject teachers and other key members of staff to allow you and your child to make the best decisions for their future.
If you have any questions about the process, then please contact the learning manager for Year 8 and 9, Mr Hussain for more information.
