We remind students frequently that our main priority is to ensure that they feel safe and happy in school.  We have a number of posters throughout school in all departments and communal spaces, which highlight the adults in school who are responsible for safeguarding and where they can be found.  A copy of the poster can be seen below.

Examination Results

Outstanding English Results

The school’s results overall confirm our status as an Ofsted ‘good’ category school. However, performance in English is outstanding for the second year in a row. Based upon 2015 national data it is likely that as a result of 80% of students gaining GCSE grades C or above in English these results would place us in the top 5% of schools nationally.

THS within Top 3 secondary schools in Calderdale

Our provisional ‘Performance 8’ rating (DfE new performance measure for schools – replacing 5A*-C including English and maths) places us as the third best school in Calderdale.

Students making excellent progress

Students having arrived with just below average attainment from their primary education have completed KS4 at THS with results that are almost entirely significantly above national average. 60% achieved grades C or above in both English and maths, this compares to 54% nationally. The ‘value’ that THS has added to outcomes for students is significantly above national average. Students who attend THS gain a third of a grade higher in their GCSE results than similar students nationally.
