It has been another pleasing year for A level results at Todmorden High School. Headteacher Gill Shirt commented, ‘I’m so proud of the efforts our students put into their studies; they have each worked to their own potential and have secured some very pleasing grades.’
Stand out performances this year include Lucy Atherton (AAAB) who has secured a place at Manchester University to study medicine, Lizzie Wrench who has secured her place at Lancaster University to study Biochemistry with grades AABB and James Gibson who achieved AABB and is taking a year out before continuing his academic studies. Many other students have secured places at their university of choice, with courses ranging from Criminology to Military History, from Accounting to Fine Art. Several students are also embarking on Teaching and Nursing degrees, having decided to pursue these vocations.
Several of our students have embarked on the apprenticeship route, opting to choose a career pathway in Engineering, Computing and the Leisure Industry.
Director of Post 16, Melissa Wells said, ‘The new linear A level courses have been both challenging and interesting for all, and it is wonderful to see so many of our students do so well under the new A level regime. They have been a delightful cohort and I wish them all well in their future endeavours.’
