As a community school in the heart of our town, we are keen to support as many worthy causes as we can. This ties in with our P4T (Pause for Thought) initiative in school, when we take time out to reflect on social, moral, spiritual and cultural matters. It also links closely with our motto of respect, care and honesty. To this end, on Friday 29th September, we enjoyed our annual MacMillan Coffee morning. Students had input about the work of Macmillan nurses in their support of people facing cancer in focus sessions and assemblies. They were then encouraged to bake cakes (or fake them!!) and/or bring money to buy cakes. As ever, our students excelled themselves and there was a wealth of cakes and bakes on offer. We are still counting the proceeds, which are currently totalling over £200 with more still to come in, and we look forward to sending off another generous donation to Macmillan at the start of next week. Many thanks to Ms Wells, Mrs Rawlinson and Miss Bedder, and several of our Post 16 students, who worked hard selling cakes on the day. Equally thanks to all of our generous staff and students who donated to this worthy cause.
