All aboard for schools art show at Todmorden station

It’s all  aboard for art as Todmorden High School stages its annual exhibition of work created by local primary schools at Platform 1 Gallery from Thursday 7th June.

Art teacher Gail Botterill has been working with Year 6 students in local primary schools to produce work along the theme of ‘World animals’ which will on show in the gallery right on the station’s platform.

Todmorden High School Headteacher Gill Shirt said: “Our art department has been working with children at Ferney Lee, St Josephs, Castle Hill, Walsden, Todmorden CofE, Shade and Cornholme to produce some really outstanding work for this show in one of the country’s must unique galleries.

“It’s part of our year round commitment to share our teacher’s specialist skills to  support local primary schools to make sure that their pupils know that our school community is a welcoming and safe place for them. We look forward to welcoming these budding artists into school this September.”

Platform 1 gallery is open Thursday to Sunday weekly from 11-4pm for the duration of June and there is an open preview night  on the 7th June from 4-6pm.
