On Saturday 7th July Todmorden High School and Todmorden Borough FC hosted a primary school’s football tournament on our school pitches. Todmorden Borough have put this event on free for primary schools over the last few years organised by Mr Milnes brother Craig. Mr Milnes helped by organising four year 10 boys to referee the games. A big thank you to Max, Max, Mason and Harvey. One of Mr Milnes brothers organised all the primary schools as he has done for the last few years, and Mr Milnes other brother sponsored the trophies with his company Lucardo Rawtenstall Escape Rooms.
There were two competitions held this weekend, the first was a year 2/3 competition and the second a year 4 competition. The competition was very well attended with teams from Todmorden C of E, Cornholme, Shade and Walsden all in attendance. Both competitions started as a league with the winners and runners-up competing in a final. Again there was some great football on show from the youngsters, who had a thoroughly enjoyable tournament. After the league stage in the year 2/3 competition the final was between Cornholme and Todmorden C of E. Todmorden C of E came out on top and won the 2/3 tournament – a big well done to them. In the year 4 competition Walsden played Todmorden C of E in the final and Walsden came out on top. A big well done to Walsden on winning the year 4 tournament.
A big thank you to all the teachers for bringing their school, and to the parents of the children for supporting them from the side-lines. A big thank you to the car park attendants who did a great job only letting people park for the football tournament and even turning away Todmorden High School teachers who were trying to sneakily park at school for the Tod show – well done lads you stuck to your brief superbly.
All in all a great tournament again and we will see everyone again on 14th July 2018 for the Border Cup again at Todmorden High School and organised by Todmorden Borough.
