Todmorden High School has been asked to be involved in a special event in the lead up to Christmas this year.
A local parish councillor, Julia Grieve has approached us with a view to collaborating on a ‘Posada’ style Advent trail. Local shops will display nativity scenes in their windows, which will consist of scenery designed by our year 9 Art students and nativity characters knitted by local people.
The plan is that younger children will look for the figures in the shop windows each week, which will be moved around from scene to scene to represent the journeys made by the 3 Wise Men, Mary and Joseph, lost sheep etc.
Some of our sixth form students will be involved in the launch event/switching on the Christmas lights and moving the characters round each week.
This idea developed at a recent council meeting with a view to creating a fun event for the local community after the sadness and difficulties experienced in the Boxing Day floods last year.
There will be a launch event on the 26th Nov and a finale nearer Christmas with carol singing etc. we hope that as many members of our schooland surrounding community as possible get involved.
