Learning and Teaching

Library

Welcome to our library. Here at Todmorden High School we LOVE TO READ. We have a great selection of books in our library, from football to fantasy, adventure to romance and lots in between. You can email our librarian Mrs Brown on a.brown@todhigh.co.uk to request or reserve a book, or if you have any questions at all.

As part of our ongoing commitment to helping every child unlock their unique potential, we have recently invested in the Accessit library management system. This means that students can search our online catalogue for books, look for suggested reads, submit reviews to help other students choose their books and loads more.

You can find the portal by clicking here and children can log in with their Office 365 details to access their own area.

Library rules

The library is a quiet space for reading, homework or drawing. Please choose to use another area if you want to chat or socialise. There is no food and drink allowed in the library, so please eat your lunch in one of your year group's allocated areas.

Library lessons

As part of our students' English studies at Key Stage 3 (Year 7-9) all students visit the library for library lessons once a fortnight. In these lessons students can access all resources in the library as well as developing their reading resilience. These lessons have been instrumental in allowing some of our students to unlock their unique potential through a learnt love of reading. Students have also developed oracy skills through discussion in each lesson about their chosen books.
